Kwik Trip has provided for us as much and more needed family time then we could have asked for. We are so pleased with our decision to have Harry take this position. I never thought it would be this easy with a relief schedule. It really has not been that bad. He has only been called out once at 130 in the morning and once in the middle of the afternoon. Otherwise it has always been decided the night before if he is off or has to work.
This being said, things are going to start changing in our household with a new schedule. Kwik Trip is starting a new line where the trucks will deliver every night to the stores that are farthest away to save on sending a fresh truck and a grocery truck. Harry had been approached about maybe doing a test run from now until the beginning of Feb. to get all the kinks out of it. Well there were 8 guys interested and only 4 were needed. This being said Harry was #5 on the list and therefore lost out on the opportunity to have a set schedule, set route and more pay. Well yesterday he was approached at his meeting if he was still interested. One of the guys backed out. Harry was very thoughtful and said he was interested but had to discuss it with me before making a final decision. Well I don't necessarily like the idea of him being gone at night but it will benefit our family. Therefore I told him that he would be silly if he didn't do it. So yesterday he put in his name for the night load. This will start Nov. 29th. And he has his schedule all the way through the end of Feb. I believe. When the night routes go live he will be able to make the decision at that time if he wants to stay on nights or if he wants to go back to days. So this is a nice trial run for the family as well.
They also have him blocked off for 3 weeks around the baby's due date. Not that he will take all 3 weeks because we all know he would go stir crazy but it is nice to know that we have that option if needed.
We are so very thankful that God has guided us in these decisions and hope that he continues. We are very blessed.
