Another Visit

How many times can one household go to the hospital, urgent care and the clinic in one week? Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, take a break for our anniversary, Friday. Yup that would be our schedule this week.

This morning when Elly got up I asked her how she was feeling and asked her if she wanted Grama to watch them today or if she wanted me to stay at home and not go to work. Her response was very genuine when she replied "You and daddy can go to work, Grama can take care of my poop!" That is right, my daughter, up front and too the point. So Grama came and I went to work. 45 minutes later, I get a phone call from one crying little girl asking her momma to come home because she doesn't feel good. Before I had left she was complaining that her belly hurt and she was going to spit up. She hadn't but felt like it and her diarrhea was still not under control. I told her I would come home right away and started sending out emails and calling the necessary contacts to let them know I was leaving.

On the way home I decided that this has went on long enough with no answers and with it being Friday I was not about to wait around for her to get worse then needing to take her into the ER over the weekend so I called the clinic to make an appointment with Dr. Nancy. I was told that she had no opening for the day but they would be happy to schedule me with another dr. Sorry lady but you got the wrong momma today because I was not taking no for an answer. I told her I really wanted to see Dr. Nancy as this was an ongoing situation and I didn't want to start over with another dr. How frustrating that can be. So she went and talked to the nurse while I stayed on hold, not waiting to have them call me back half the day later. Nurse Lori told me to bring her in immediately as Dr. Nancy had a lady in labor and was going to have to leave right away. Grama got the phone call to have her ready and waiting by the time I got to the house and she was.

When we got there Dr. Nancy was still there...what a relief. So we got back to our room, which by the way was at the end of the hall opposite where the bathroom was. Well needless to say that I got my exercise with running up and down the hall with Elly being carried to the bathroom. Dr. Nancy ordered x-ray first as she was worried about her bowel or stomach being twisted or obstructed. Came back normal. Lab was ordered...normal. Next came more stool samples. Ok seriously you have not seen me running up and down the hall this whole time and you are just now telling me to take a sample. So we started but by this time there is nothing inside my little peanut that is exhausted, poked, prodded and wanting to have nothing to do with anyone, even her mean momma that made her come to the clinic and helped hold her down for these tests. Finally they just gave the instructions and sent us on our way as we were not having any success there getting the samples.

That is exactly what Elly needed was to leave because not even 2 blocks down the road she was out like a light. So straight upstairs she went when we got home and she napped. Lorelai stayed at home with Grama and she was napping. This meant that momma got to nap for a little bit. When Elly woke up she must have slept good enough that she relaxed as she was able to fill her stool samples. So off I went to the hospital while Grama stayed with the girls. Of course this was around 330 on a Friday afternoon so the earliest we will know anything will be Monday morning.

Elly is doing ok as she is our fighting little trooper. She is exhausted and doesn't do much during the day. Her little body is working so hard that she complains of her belly and back hurting. She has no appetite and it is a struggle to get yogurt or bananas down her or even a little bit like the dr. ordered. She is at the point where she doesn't want to drink either. Finally I had to tell her that if she didn't drink she was going to have to go to the hospital and have an IV. I hate to be so upfront and mean sounding to her but at some point she has to listen to reasoning. I would kick myself if I didn't say anything and she ended up in the hospital. She has been better about drinking but I still have to remind her. And they have her on such a strict guideline as to what she can and can not drink that that is hard also. She wants everything that she can't have. But she also understands when you explain it to her why she can not have it.

We continue to thank God for his unconditional love, his guidance in this trying time and just ask for rest and for answers. Will continue to update as we know more.
