Contractions

Well today definitely turned out not the way I had thought. Harry got home around 3:30 AM and I was still not feeling the best with contractions. I decided around 6:30 that I would try and make it into work and try to get as much work done as possible before I couldn't handle them anymore. Around 7:30 I called into the clinic and talked to Nurse Lori. Of course she wanted me to come in and so we planned for me to come in at 3...well then it was turned to 1 so that Harry could go with.

1 came and we were hooked up to the monitor. Sure enough 3-4 minutes apart were contractions. Lil Harry's heartbeat was at 120 and doing good. After a little assessment on what we needed to do we started the process of doing different tests to decide why we were having contractions. A urine sample was sent to the lab to check for another UTI issue along with many other labs to check for leakage of amniotic fluid and strep B. Also they set up another ultrasound to check my cervix.

Well these are the results after 3 hours of being in the clinic. Ultrasound stated that the cervix is nice and closed and measures at 3cm. Which means that I will not go into labor and/or my water break tonight. There is no leakage of fluid, waiting still on Strep B and the urine came back a little junky but not clarified that it is a UTI. So she gave me an antibiotic for the UTI anyway, because if it an infection that could be what is causing the contractions. If the antibiotic works the contractions should go away within 24 hours but if it is not then the contractions will still be there tomorrow morning and then I would need to be admitted to the hospital. At that point they would give me an IV for fluids and decided what to do at that point. With being at 34 weeks they would probably take Lil Harry. But again we will cross that bridge if it comes to that. Dr. Nancy also gave me some pain medicine and right now I can feel the contractions only if I put my hand on my stomach but not otherwise. These are good meds. :)

I did send Harry off to Fon du Lac at the last minute as I didn't feel it was necessary to keep him home tonight since I was being sent home myself. So I am at home right now resting as many many family and friends have told me I need to do. Girls are still at the farm house with Papa Harry and Nonie having a good time. They are planning on coming over right away in the morning as Ellaree really wants her momma.
