Sorting

With having Friday, January 1st through the weekend off from work, not much planned and the Christmas decorations put away (thanks to Grama for doing this while I was working). I was able to start dragging the baby totes up from the basement. I start sorting what I could and could not use, washing, folding and hopefully soon putting away. A couple minor details that we don't have done yet...like we still need to put the other half of Elly's closet shelving up so she can share. We realized we need a dresser for Liza. And the changing table is still in the basement. I need to get Harry to bring that up at some point so I can start piling it full of necessary things...diapers, wipes, burp rags, etc.

So here is what I have accomplished with some eager helpers like Grama, Elly & Maddie.

  • Sorted, washed, folded clothes and put into baskets to be put away
  • Got car seat out. Took the seat cover off and washed it.
  • Got the bouncy seat out. Took the seat cover off and washed it.
  • Got the swing out. Took the seat cover off and washed it.
  • Started packing my suitcase with essentials...basically all for Liza so far.
  • Started a list of things that need to go in the suitcase at the last minute.
  • The birth announcements are all picked out and ready when I get home.
  • The baptism invitations are picked out and ready for when I need them.

Here is what is still on my list...

  • Get our bedroom organized. Get cradle, changing table & rocking chair put in place.
  • Buying Elly a big girl bed this week, yes we waited until the last minute. Even though we said we weren't going to.
  • Still have a list of things that we need to purchase...all boring but necessary things.
  • Elly's closet
  • Purchase a inexpensive dresser for Liza

Did I mention that my husband is not worried about not being ready. He says because we still have 6 weeks left but I truly think it is because he knows I have it already done before he thinks about it. I truly feel like she is going to come early. Because I feel this way, I am sure she will burrow herself down inside and wait it out. But if I am not prepared then she will pull a fast one one me. I have to be prepared for anything. Although I did get word from Sgt. Hornby this morning that said to hold out for just a little longer so that he is home when she arrives.

Had I known that a car seat, bouncy seat, boppy pillow & swing could be endless hours of entertainment for a 2 1/2 year old, I would have gotten this stuff out months ago. The minute I got it out, Elly had a baby in each one and there is still a baby in the car seat. It is her Bitty Baby and looks like about the right size of what Elly was when she came home. So weird to think they are that small, compared to now looking at Elly, you kind of forget how tiny and fragile they really are. But at least she is getting a visual of what it all will look like. I told her that these were Liza's and Elly told me very sternly "after Liza is born"! Well there you have it.
