Contractions Update

Well the appointment with Dr. Nancy went good. We are both on the same page that it is too early to do anything much, but finding out if there is a cause was also a good thing to check out. We put me on the monitors in the clinic and did a couple different tests. They did a urine to see if I had a UTI. They put the fetal monitor on to check for the regular and/or irregular contractions and to listen to the heart rate. Let me tell you, the baby did not like that fetal monitor one bit. He (because I think it is a boy) kept kicking at it and trying to get it off track. It was quite amusing to me. Anyway, they also did a WET test (I believe this is what they call it) to check for any other irregularities that could be going on. Then checked the cervix to make sure that it was still long and thin, which was all normal also. They have a medication called tocolytic which will help stop the contractions. With my history though we decided this was not the greatest plan for us as we tried it with Elly and her heart became irregular and we ended up at Mayo to tell us to stop taking the medication.

So basically it is a sit and wait type deal. While in there my contractions did stop and so we are hoping that if I just take it easy then maybe I won't get them again or as bad. Dr. Nancy did say that this is probably my body telling me to slow down and/or it was too much on me to be traveling as long as a distance as I did to Chicago on Saturday and Sunday. So we are to stay close by for now and wait and see what happens. All fun and games but needing to do this for the sake of a healthy baby.

Thanks to everyone for all their thoughts & prayers today.
