To ease your minds right away....it was not Harry or his truck. The accident occurred yesterday by Barre Mills which is only 20 minutes from our house. It was one of the trucks that Diesel (Harry's relief driver) drives for also. Diesel was waiting down the road for the truck at the next farm and then he would take the load to Blair like he does for Harry. They had to use jaws of life to get the driver out and it took 2-3 hours to get him out where they med-flighted him to Gundersen Lutheran Hospital. The truck is ruined. It split the seams on the tank. Harry said that they had to take airbags and put under the cab and then use a bar to hold the cab so that they could get under the truck to get the guy out. Of course, Harry had to drive by this morning. He said that it looked like he got off on the shoulder of the road and lost control, went into the ditch and field and tried to correct himself. There was a tractor road in the field and with the milk sloshing it rolled. Harry said it looked like he slid for 100 yards. The driver had lots of bumps and bruises and a broken leg but will be ok.
When things like this happen it really hits home that it could happen to us. I pray every day Harry drives out the driveway that he will be safe for the day. I have heard so many stories of people pulling out in front of him, passing him with on-coming cars, etc. You wouldn't think that driving milk truck could be a dangerous occupation but in reality it can be. I suppose with everything, anything can be a dangerous occupation. Just makes you thank God for keeping Harry safe and especially Elly when she rides with him.
I am sure that I have missed something or told you something wrong so after I have Harry read this when he gets home if I need to update I will. I don't think I would be a good anchor as I would get my stories mixed up. :)
