House Projects

Well we are getting there slow but sure.  I know I said that last time.  All the tile is finally laid.  After having to replace 6 pieces and needing to still do under the dishwasher...we finally got it done.  The island is sanded, set and in place.  Now we just need to find time to stain it the correct color.  Harry put up another can light, so he has one left to do in the far corner.
Here is my island.  Small but does help with centralizing my cooking.  Also I have two small stools that work great for the girls to help.   I will eventually need to get another one and squeeze them all in.

Harry sanded this all down and will eventually stain it to match the other cupboards.  I have a pull-out garbage in the door.  This works out great when I am standing there cooking.  I just open the door and throw away!
Here is the backside of the island.  I wanted you to see the vaneer that we used off the existing cupboards.  Some of it needed to come off once we moved things around.  So eventually this will be the color all the way around.  Also, Harry was able to get the shelves out without having to cut them.  Since there was an indent where the countertop will go, he just put one shelf ontop until my countertop is started/finished.  It works out great for now.
Here is our tile after we got it done under the dishwasher.  I am so happy with the end result.  My kitchen is turning out great, even if I have to wait a little longer then anticipated.  It makes it even better knowing that my loving husband is doing it just my way because he loves me.  Who couldn't wait knowing that?!?!

This weekend is our chimney project.  We have all the materials and so hopefully the Good Lord will bless us with some nice weather for the guys who will be working on the roof.  Kitchen is put on temporary backburner until woodstove is hooked up and some wood is cut.
