I know, from the title you are expecting great and wonderful, life shattering news...right?!?! Sorry but for us it is very busy but fun time here.
As you know, last Thursday was Ellaree's first day of school. Thursday and Friday were whirl winds of their own with school, naps, school, lunch, naps, play and bedtime. The kids are down for bedtime by 7. If one is going to go then they all are. I don't know if I mentioned it but I took Lorelai's morning naps away a time ago. This does help in getting a good afternoon nap in for her and she is usually ready for bedtime.
Friday during school we did stop by Grama's house as it was her birthday and had a cup of coffee with her. I won't tell you her age as that would be rude but I can tell you she is older then the speed limit.
Saturday I turned the big 31. Well here is a story for you that you won't want to miss. Saturday morning I slept until the kids woke up. All I asked for from the kids were to sleep in and have good moods all day long. Harry came home from work. He had to train the night before and it didn't go as smoothly as he would have liked therefore he was beat. He hung out with us for about 5-10 minutes and headed to bed. No word of my birthday. Meanwhile, Grama stopped by for awhile, had a cup of coffee and watched the kids so I could have a relaxing shower and not worry about who was doing what. Ellaree got it in her head that we were having a party. Why wouldn't we? It is momma's birthday and so if there is a birthday then there is a party. She even went so far to as to call Auntie Laurie to ask her what time she was going to be here for the party. She was not one bit happy when she didn't answer. I decided for my birthday I would order pizza since I had been without an oven, due to tiling the kitchen floor, for 5 days and deserved a pizza for my birthday. I decided I was ordering what I wanted instead of the same ol' sausage and pepperoni that we always get. I ordered taco. When the pizza came the girls went down and got daddy up. Everyone started complaining about the pizza...not one of them liked it. I said "you know mom deserves to order something for herself every once in a while". You could tell Harry was very confused so I was not about to mention the "B" word. Ellaree was still going on about my party but she was just saying party not birthday party. Finally lunch was over, everything was cleaned up and still no ah ha moment from Harry. Finally Ellaree said something about my birthday party and you could see the light bulb go off in Harry's head. He said he wondered why I would order a pizza I new everyone didn't like. It all made sense. Harry did have the kids and him sing happy birthday after that. I am sure that Harry will not live this one down for quite some time.
Later I told him to redeem himself he could go and buy me a Dairy Queen ice cream cake...preferably cookie dough but I am not hard to please, regular would be fine. Harry promptly said I could go and buy one myself with the kids. And off he went to work. Now don't think badly of him...he was tired and I did gently set things straight with him on how he needs to remember these things and buy me ice cream cake.
Sunday we had two baptisms to go to but unfortunately we didn't make it to Ruthie's as Lorelai was not feeling all that great. We did however make it to Ruby's baptism luncheon. I was up all night as Lil Harry. He must have thought it would be a grand idea to stay up all night and celebrate mom's birthday. So I slept as long as I could until the kids got up and therefore we would have been late. Harry went with us after work with only an hour of sleep. It was a great time but didn't stay long as everyone was getting tired and cranky. We came home and everyone did naps while Ellaree and I watch Fiddler On The Roof for quiet time on PBS. She has asked many times since to watch it again. Anyway, so when everyone woke up from their naps I started in on how an ice cream cake would go great with dinner. After a lot of suggestions Harry & Ellaree went and got me a regular DQ ice cream cake. I could have gotten a Sponge Bob Square Pants cake but Daddy suggested a flower one would probably be better. There was no princess or Dora otherwise I am sure that is what I would have gotten. So Harry is finally off the hook as we had a great day and after the kids went to bed he finished the last of the grouting in the kitchen. All he has left is under the dishwasher. I was not letting him take my oven and dishwasher at the same time.
Monday we had our annual Labor Day Celebration at my parents with lots of family, friends, great food, parade and just plain fun. Of course that meant not getting home and to bed like I would have liked but it was still a fun day and we try hard to roll with the punches.
Today was back to the grind of school and housework. Well with housework that means laundry. My dryer has been on its last toe...not leg I mean literly toe as some loads it took running the cycle 3 times before they were dry. But to save money until we could afford one we limped along...until today when my washer started to stall. Oh no now what! My mom came up and I went to the local appliance store and bought a front load washer & dryer set. They are being delivered tomorrow.
Wednesdays Ellaree has no school...that means sleeping in (if Lil Harry doesn't stay up all night teething) and get some rest.
