Hysterectomy Surgery

Well yesterday was a whirlwind of events. I was to be in the hospital at noon for a 2 o'clock surgery time. Well at 1:30 they came and got me and said that they were ready for me early. Great! Well when I got up to surgery holding then we were informed that Dr. Sherman had some complications in the surgery before me and would be a little bit longer. Needless to say I did not get back to surgery until an hour later. They must have been in a rush to get things going because I do not remember much as they put me out quite quickly.

The procedure itself went alright. They were able to do most of the hysterectomy vaginally. They did take my left ovary as it had a lot of scare tissue on it. When they went to cut the uterus away they found that the bladder was attached to the uterus from scare tissue and the endo. Therefore they had to call Urology in, Dr. Radamacher, and he helped assist in detaching the bladder from the uterus. In doing so they had to cut some of the bladder away and then repair the bladder. Therefore I will have to wear a cathater for 2 weeks to let the bladder heal.

I will stay in the hospital until tomorrow when they will release me. Harry brought in the kids today to visit. Of course they only stayed for about 45 minutes when they had to go from climbing the walls. Ellaree had to take mom for a walk before she left. She is such a little mother hen and she had to sit by me on the bed most of the time. Ellaree informed me that they will be back in tonight after supper to visit again.

Thanks much to everyone that has had all of us in their thoughts and prayers.
