Grama, I went pee pee!

The whole potty training is such a big decision. When do you start? How long is too long? Do you wait until they are dry at nighttime or do you start at 18 months? What is the right answer? My answer...when they tell you they are ready.

Today Elly was ready. For a while now she has been kind of intersted in going potty and she has started going and getting her own diapers when needing changed. Great step in the right direction. Yesterday she wanted to sit on mommy's potty. So today, since I am home from work due to weather, I decided that I would get her potty out and see what she did. She wanted to sit on it. So I let her and then decided to try without the diaper. We sat there for a while and read books and even called Grama and Grandpa Harry called too. We sat there patiently but no success, which was fine with me as she needs to get use to this. As the morning progressed, she continully went to the bathroom and wanted to sit on the potty with no diaper. I was fine with this. I think she thought this was a little game where she didn't have to wear her diaper but I am ok with that. Finally, after lunch and before naptime we went in one more time. As we read Clifford I figured we would have another no pee pee. But I was wrong! I never even heard her but she went pee pee in the potty!!!!! Immediately, I said we needed to call Daddy. Elly said "ouchy" which is Grama's new name. So I told her we would call "ouchy" as soon as we got off the phone with daddy. Daddy was in the plant up in Blair so we had to leave a message but she was quite vocal in telling him all about going pee pee. Then we called Ouchy.

And of course, I have a picture of Elly on the potty...
Hi Ouchy, I went pee pee in the potty!
