More Glamour!

So it seems that Ellaree is making more and more glamour decisions on her own these days.  First her haircut and then she comes to me about two weeks ago and says "mommy I want my ears pierced" way out of the blue.  I never have brought this subject up as I want this to be the girls decision to do so.  So I explained the process and what would happen.  Then I looked into how long before swimming lessons as I new I didn't want new earrings in with chlorine.  I counted it out and decided that if we did it this week or next week that we would be just fine.  I told her that this could be her birthday present from her dad and me and she agreed.  Next was getting Harry home early from the shop to watch the lil ones.  Well with this wonderful weather we are having he was able to last night.  I had two choices one was to go to Biederman Jewelers and have each ear done one at a time or go to Walmart where they assured me they could do both ears at the same time.  We opted to go with Walmart.  When we got there I was told they only had one lady there to do it but Ellaree had her heart set on the fact she was getting them done that night...so we went with it.

We brought Rapunzel Bear with for special help.  She was so excited about doing this.  She picked out her own earrings that were a flower and each pedal is a different color.  So Ellaree!

She was a little nervous with the young lady getting things ready.

And the nervousness really kicked in at this point...and then after the first hole it was all over.  She wanted to get the other hole done but was so scared.  For 2 hours I tried to compromised, bribe, talk to her, talk at her and finally after 2 hours she finally did it.  During this time I felt like the worse mom ever as people were walking by staring.  I actually had one old lady circling us and shaking her head at me like I was forcing her to do this.  I was so frustrated as I was hoping this would be a wonderful mother/daughter experience and it felt to me like a horrible one.

The minute she finally got her second earring done she was so proud of herself.  She said through tears "I did it! I actually did it!"  She had to rush home to show Daddy, Lorelai and Harry.

But unfortunately we had a very rough night as she had nightmares throughout the night.  Holding her hand over her ear and and telling she didn't want anymore earrings.  Poor thing will have a hard time with this for a while I think.  I let her sleep in and be late to school this morning, something I don't do but she was so exhausted after this whole ordeal I figured being a couple minutes or hours late was not the end of the world.  Needless to say coffee is mommy's best friend today.

We had to wear our hair up in a headband so that all could see her earrings :)  She will be fine.  Deep breath all is done and she is happy!
