Happy Memorial Day

We had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend.  Most people would say that it was not a very nice weekend with the weather but I say it was wonderful and it is not the weather that makes your day but the people you are with.  As you know Friday we went on Ellaree's field trip, Saturday Harry drove for Kwik Trip while me and the kids stayed at home and cleaned then we went to two graduation parties.  Sunday we went to church and hung out as a family.  Harry wouldn't even let me do one load of laundry.  We introduced the kids to Monopoly.  The two little ones of course lost interest but Ellaree is hooked!  She loved it until Daddy took all her money and properties. But it was lots of fun.  Yesterday the kids and I took Grama with us to our church's annual Memorial Day lunch.  Oh it was sooooo good!  I had to take a salad so we might as well stay and eat as well.  When we got home Daddy was out of the attic from wiring for another light in the kitchen, a light and fan in the office area and then he put up a beam to help support a false partition that we are putting up to give a divider from our kitchen into the office area.  Here are some pictures of our progress.

When we rearranged the cupboards we new that we would eventually have to repair or do something new to the ceiling in the kitchen.  We decided to take and remove the popcorn ceiling.  But with doing this we had to either remove all the popcorn ceiling in the kitchen, office, kids activity area and hallway or we needed to put up this false partition to define the room.  We decided that putting this false partition up would look nicer and a lot cheaper in the long run.  You can also see the extra light fixture wires in the ceiling for the kitchen.

Here is looking from the office to the kitchen.  You can kind of see in the left hand corner that Harry had to pull some of the boarder away to put up his partition.  This began a project for me as well.  We found out that it was not glued on very well and it came off with very little effort.  Therefore while Harry was mudding and finishing up the partition I went around the hallway and took down all the boarder.  As much as we didn't care for the boarder it sure looks bare now.

It is all mudded now.  Now to find the time to sand the partition and the kitchen ceiling.  Then we can start finishing the ceiling and I have decided to repaint the kitchen as I am not caring for the green on green look.  But I will keep the office green.  :)  I think I will also paint the kids activity area at the same time.
