Well I believe I was at Parent/Teacher Conferences just as much as the teachers this time around. Thank goodness Grama was around. The Appreciation Dinner for the teachers on Wednesday night went really well. They all were appreciative. One teacher stated that she has been teaching for 22 years and she has never been served a dinner from a parent(s) before. It was a great feeling to help in such a little way. These teachers go above and beyond each day during school hours but after talking with many of them they are going above and beyond on their personal time also. That means so much to me that we have such dedicated teachers for my children and so many others.
Thursday we had conference with Mr. Harger to see how Ellaree was doing. Can you imagine, she is doing wonderful! Her first semester she needed to work on some shape recognition, number recognition, lower case letters, address and phone number. So this time around she aced them all except for writing her lower case letters. For example, her name she writes in all caps. Granted we taught her upper case first therefore this is a habit we need to break. But Mr. Harger is not worried. Also, writing numbers, she recognizes them but can't write them the very best. So we will continue to work on them.
It was also nice that Harry was able to have such a flexible schedule that he was able to come to conferences. Also he was able to meet quite a few people I talk about. He was even able to meet one student I help with when I work there and this particular student even gave me a hug for the first time. It was such a great day to have Harry see a sneak peak of my world at school.
Harry took Ellaree back home afterwards as I stayed at school to feed the teachers once again as we had plenty of leftovers from the night before. Then I headed off to the Book Fair and helped there for 4 hours. It was very pleasing to see so many students get excited about new books. But it was hard on my heart for those students that didn't have the money for a book but the longing for one. Harry is lucky my wallet was stuck in Ellaree's locker otherwise I probably would have bought one for each student in need.
All in all it was a great couple of days and I am so very pleased I was able to help out in so many different areas over a couple of days. I am exhausted but in a good way. Today we are off from school therefore we are headed to Madison. We were suppose to head to Verona but I got the dreaded phone call last night and this morning that they are dropping like flies at Laurie's house with the flu. So unfortunately no coffee talk with her today. I am saddened but also happy to have found another good friend that will go with me. A long time high school friend of mine just so happens to get off of work at 11. So I will pick her up and off we will go. I believe that God had his hands in this one as her husband is off work today so he can pick up the kids from school. I am so very happy to spend time with Amanda and catch up with her as we have busy families. So with that being said....I am signing off for now!
