A couple of weeks ago when we were out with Jen & Maddie, Elly got to watch Maddie go up and order a drink by herself and pay for it. Ever since she has been asking if she could do it herself.
Well last night we were coming home from Jen & Maddie's house and found out that Harry was going to be late getting home. Then I remembered that we had a gift card to McDonald's so I asked Elly if she wanted McDonald's or Mac & Cheese at home. Obviously I already new the answer but thought I would ask. So we stopped. Sometimes we have a hard time getting Elly to eat, if you can imagine that. Anyway, so I told her that if she ate really good without me having to tell her a 100 times to eat that she could have ice cream afterwards. She ate tremendously well. This could be from not eating much all day as she was too busy playing. But at any rate she ate really well.
Then Elly asked if she could have ice cream. I asked her if she would like to go up and pay for it herself. Elly's response "oh yes ma'am." So I got the gift card out, handed it to her and asked if she knew what she wanted. Ice cream was the answer I got. Anyway, I was able to watch the transaction just in case I was needed. The lady was so nice to her and in the end she came back with a twist ice cream cone paid for by Elly. She was so proud of herself. Her first response was "I need to call Grapa and tell him I bought ice cream by myself". Grapa always has ice cream at his house!
Elly was so grown up and independent. Didn't she just turn 1 the other day?
