Labor Day Celebration

We had our annual Labor Day Celebration at my parents house on Monday. It was of course celebrated with family & friends, lots of food, good conversation, nice weather & a parade. Maddie & Elly really enjoyed the parade and getting the candy. And enjoyed each others company in general.
As you can tell the girls have Papa's heart wrapped around their little finger!
Maddie was very kind to share a pair of her sunglasses with Elly. They both thought they were cool dudes. This is the best shot I could get of Elly because she was too busy showing off her shades.
This was right before the parade was to start. See how nice the kids are sitting and then you have the BIG kid in the back. haha
Elly had no nap that day and she was starting to wear down on Aunt Jen's lap, but not for long before she realized what might happen and was off to the races again.
Due to Maddie sharing her sunglasses with Elly we have made a purchase recently for new shades of our own.

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Yesterday was Harry's birthday. We had to wake Elly up from sleeping so she could have breakfast with him. And then off to a regular day for daddy. He hauled his milk, came home and returned the old engine so that he could get money back on it (oh yeah the truck is back working) and then we finally got to spend some quality family time together. But come 8:30 he went out to work on his milk truck. I guess I got to do what I wanted on my birthday so he got to do what he wanted.

I hope you had a great day honey. We love you!

Devastating News - Part 2

I want to apologize to everyone as I didn't realize how that title was going to effect everyone. I am sure that your thoughts did wander to the baby and/or Jerod. I will try and keep the titles to a more careful entering in the future.

Devastating News

It is devastating news in the eyes of a 2 year old when the power goes out during Dinosaur Train on PBS. The power was only off for maybe 5 minutes but when the power came back on there was no Dinosaur Train....Sesame Street was now on....how devastating!

Pickup Engine

So if you haven't guessed it already - we are putting in a new engine in our pickup. Why might you ask would we do that instead of just going and buying a new pickup truck. 2 answers.

1. It is way cheaper.
2. The bank is not really loaning money out right now. Or should I say doesn't want to unless they absolutely have to.
3. Ok so there is 3 answers....plus that would mean a larger loan payment. (Ok so 1 & 3 kind of go together).

Anyway, the old engine is out and the new engine is in. Thanks Dad for coming up and helping. It was a tremendous help.

While the guys were doing that, mom & I were in the kitchen working hard on goodies for the annual Labor Day Celebration at their house tomorrow. 3 pans of bars & 1 pie later we were finally done.

It has been a long but successful day of getting things done. Now to get my husband to leave the garage for the night. :)

A Wonderful Birthday!

I could not have asked for a better birthday then I got today.

#1. I got breakfast with Harry & Elly where they presented me with a card that they worked hard on coloring and making just right for me last night.
#2. Did not have to work today which opened up my whole day to play with Elly.
#3. Had a dr. appt where I got to hear the baby heartbeat and got to listen with Harry & Elly.
#4. Had dinner with Harry & Elly at Perkins...I didn't have to cook all day!
#5. Had the greatest day yesterday shopping with my mom & Elly.

Thanks to everyone that sent their well wishes my way.

Dr. Appt.

The baby was great. Kept kicking at the Doppler and didn't want us to find the heartbeat. Elly was very shy but excited to be there and helping Dr. Nancy with everything. Elly was a little disappointed as she wanted to have the baby come out today so she could hold it. She will be a great big sister when the time finally comes. We did schedule our ultrasound for 20 weeks which will be October 1st. Then we will find out the sex of the baby. How exciting. With Elly we got to have our ultrasound at 18 weeks but Dr. Nancy wants to wait until 20 weeks so that everything is clear and we have no concerns and need to repeat the ultrasound. Which is fine with me.
