Last day of school Ellaree came home with her report card which was all wonderful and bright information about her. Which we new she would. The interesting part was the reading and math...she was tested throughout the year in both of these and she's exceeded her expectations.
READING
September - reading at 1st grade beginners level
November - reading at 2nd grade developing level
January - reading at 3rd grade expanding level
March - reading at 4th grade consolidating level
June - reading at 4th grade consolidating level
At the beginning of the year they would like to see them at a Kindergarten grade level of emergent. By the end of 1st grade they like to see them reading at a 1st grade level of beginning. Yup she's got this covered.
Yes she loves her reading and you can tell!
MATH
Math is a different story. She really has to work to get good markings (just like her momma). But as much as she struggled in Kindergarten to now you can really see a big improvement. It helps that her dad helps her and shows her 3-4 different ways of doing one problem. Yes that is the "Harry Young" way of teaching. :)
The school does a National Norm Scoring which gives a percentile rank score that compares Ellaree's test performance with that of other students nationally in the same grade.
September - 69%
January - 75%
May - 80%
With a percentile of 80, Ellaree's math skills are greater than 80% of students nationally in the same grade. This score is above average. The percentage range indicates that, if Ellaree takes the math test numerous times, her scores would fall between 65-89%
We are so very proud of her!
Lorelai is very pumped and ready to go to school this fall. She has summer school in August for a week. Also she has started to read and I am sure she will be just as smart as her sister.
Harry on the other hand is all about trucks, tractors and anything with a loud motor. We will see how it goes next year when we are gearing up for him to go to school. My babies are growing up!
