A Little Of Nothing

Well as I mentioned we went to Menards on Monday before the kids doctor appointments.  We got our island and more things for the house like the hood range, a cat door*, and miscellaneous items.

From this point with Menards you would think nothing else could go wrong, right...yup you were wrong.  The island is the wrong color, the veneer for the back does not match the island (that is another color) and it is suppose to be empty inside.  Yup we got 2 nice shelves in there that Harry will need to cut out now as we are using it as my pull-out garbage.  Harry will be sanding down the island and staining it to match out cupboards.  Also we will return the veneer as we have enough left over from the actual cupboards but we didn't know if we would or not until after we got all the cupboards moved and in place.  The island is in place and we are glad that we did not order a countertop and place the tile as we decided to move the island and switch the angle in the kitchen.  So as you can see we are coming along wonderful as possible.  This weekends project is either can lights or tile.

Bathroom wallpaper project started Monday night as I bought Dif to strip the wallpaper off.  Plan A is to strip wallpaper off and paint...remodel completely in a couple of years.  After 3 hours and only the strip between the window and shower from the ceiling to floor was done we went to plan B.  Plan B is to gut the bathroom walls and put up the proper greenboard drywall for moisture but leave the same vanity, shower and only replace the walls, sink and we have a new toilet.  Therefore it would only cost us right now to do walls.  In 5-10 years we will do the shower if we want.  Therefore this will start after the kitchen is done and so I will live with it for a little while.

We do have a guy coming on Sunday to quote us on how much it will cost to have him paint as Harry doesn't have the time and I will pull my hair out trying with 3 little ones helping.  He is local, recommended by a couple of people, stands behind his work and is cheap (his words not mine).

*The cat door is the door going downstairs.  The sellers cut the bottom off so their cat could go downstairs.  This has become the ticket for Lorelai to sneak downstairs to her daddy while he is sleeping.  She slips under and no one knows...therefore this needs to get fixed before Mr. Harry decides to crawl, which won't be long at all as he is on all 4s and rocking.
