This weekend was a very hard weekend for Lorelai. When you plan to go to a picnic with friends you expect your kids to come home exhausted. Well Lor did but in a different way. They whole time we were there she just laid on Uncle Mark's lap and tried to nap. This weekend she took 2 plus hours nap plus begged to go to bed at night. She has fevers, urgency, etc. Last night was the worse as she was waking up in the night screaming of pain. My heart broke and we both cried for many of the night.
This morning I called both our primary doctor and Mayo. Our primary said that Mayo really needed to see her. Mayo resident called back. I was not impressed with his attitude or what he had to say (that conversation I would rather not discuss) but the jist of it all was that he didn't think Lor had an infection from a UTI but rather something else. So he wanted us to be seen by our primary to rule everything out before being seen. I called our primary in tears and told our nurse what was just said and how frustrated I was at the run around. Our primary doctors nurse told me to bring Lor right up and we would run some tests to rule everything out. I told her strongly I wanted everything ran from blood to x-rays so that they could tell I was serious this time.
We did a urinalysis the minute we got there and a blood draw. Lorelai, my poor baby, freaked when the nurses came in to draw blood. At this point I completely understand since she's been through so much. We cried together but got the blood drawn. When the dr came in she said that she had a screaming bladder infection and no wonder she was screaming in her sleep. Unfortunately due to her having these symptoms for some time now she was afraid that the infection was already on its way to the kidneys and she suggested to ramp up the antibiotics. To get it started quicker she wanted to do 2 shots of antibiotics along with a 2 week series of antibiotics as well. So another freak out moment was had with the shots but with mom "hugging" her down to the bed we got the antibiotic shots done. This is the part of being a mom that I don't like. She starts her 2 week antibiotics tonight. After the two weeks we will do another urinalysis and if negative then we can schedule her VCUG. At that time we will see what is causing her to have more infections.
thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. much appreciated in this time of need.
