Clumsy

Yesterday, Elly and I went to a baby shower for our friend Darby up in Melrose. Was nice to get out of the house and have something to do. It has been so blasting cold out with the wind that I haven't let Elly out besides running to the truck and back.

When we got home Elly was sleeping and when I went to put her down she woke up and was crying that she wanted mommy. Well I still had everything in the truck and needed/wanted to get everything carried in while the energy was still there. I should have just left it. Before I new it I was laying face first in the snow....right on Liza. A very scary feeling. So I got myself and everything back in the house to a screaming kiddo. For the next hour I tried everything I could think of to get Liza to move...the glass of water on the belly to see the water move, drinking cold fluids to get her awake, pushing on her. Anything and everything but nothing was working. After an hour I started to get worried and therefore started making preparations to go in and be checked out. Of course, Harry was in Blair at this time and I could not get ahold of him. I called our friend Jane who lives 10 minutes away and asked her to take us in. I finally got ahold of Harry by calling the plant and asking them to have him call me right away. Harry was meeting us at the hospital. We about all met at the same time and Jane took Elly back home with her while they checked me out.

The good news was that Liza was sounding great. Of course, once we got in there then she started moving around. It is like when your vehicle is making noise, so you take it in to be checked out and then the noise is no longer there. Well same thing, she started moving and kicking at the monitors the minute we got in there and got hooked up. Then the bad news came (don't worry, nothing with Liza), we had to stay there for 4 hours and be monitored. Ok I know that sounds bad, but when they tell you that you have to stay on the monitors until 10:51 PM and all you can think about is that your husband needs to get up at 4, it makes you think that they could let you go after 2 hours. Plus, with the monitors on you can't exactly get comfortable otherwise you loose the heartbeat.

At 10:45 the resident came back in and said that all was fine. Liza was looking good and the blood test came back negative. Oh yeah, forgot that part, they took blood to see if there was any of the baby's blood in my blood stream. Had there been, then they would have had to do other tests to make sure she was fine. But all was fine. So he said that they would take me off the monitors exactly at 10:51 just to say they went by the protocol and we were on our way.

Harry still had to get fuel in the milk truck, yes I got to go home in the milk truck. So by the time we got home and settled it was midnight. After I get this wrote then I am off to pick up Elly and then to work.

I am very sore today but thanking my lucky stars that my clumsiness did not effect Liza more then irritation and a little time on the monitors.

Oh my goodness! I almost fell in our driveway this weekend, which has made me very paranoid walking around. I think that having a December baby will be a lot different than February. December is so early in the season, and that year was so mild. By the time I had him, I think it had only snowed once. I'm glad everything checked out.
